village outreach.
Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also the interests of others.
Philippians 2:4
Throughout the last year, Covid separated many villages and left families and individuals alone and in distress. Town roads and public places were deserted. Schools were emptied. Church buildings were abandoned. Protecting the health and well being of ourselves and our families came at a high cost - paid for through the absence of precious time with those that we love, care for and do life with.
Despite temporary sufferings, the Gospel calls us back into relationships with each other. Hebrews 10:25 instructs believers to meet together and encourage one another - and that holds true in our everyday lives. God’s love works through the power of community and sharing each other’s burdens. These new outreach efforts reflect our daily pursuit of loving the people around us.
It takes many resources to fulfill the various needs in our community. We would love for you to join us in these ministry efforts. Would you consider becoming a financial partner?
Home Visits
Ms. Rosa has been a friend of A Better Belize for many years. Several of our camp mission teams came together to build this single grandmother a home. Another partner gave her a solar-powered, Spanish speaking audio bible - as she is reading challenged. Occasionally, she needs medicine or reading glasses. Being able to drop by her home and check on her is a blessing. She is always so grateful to receive visitors and share conversation - especially about her flower garden.
Our staff conducts home visits several times a week to love the community around us. Please pray for this daily outreach. If possible, consider a donation that will allow us to continue.
Life Skills & Faith Classes
Pas Miranda sews for her family and often uses this talent to earn extra income. When other village ladies wanted to participate in sewing classes, she happily gave of her knowledge and time. Everyone needs to be encouraged to become a life-long learner. We should seek to be better parents, improved husbands and wives, more caring neighbors and faithful followers of Christ. A Better Belize is responding to requests for these continuing life skills by offering in many areas, including: parenting, marriage enrichment, faith and finances.
Our classes will be scheduled throughout the week here at Camalote Camp. We welcome local and visiting missionaries/teams to get involved, as they are available. Get plugged in from home by sponsoring class materials and supplies.
Ministry Store
As local friends sign up for and attend various life skills and faith classes, they receive camp credit coupons. These credits can then be redeemed in our new ministry store. Whether it’s personal hygiene products, baby items or school supplies - our store can help individuals earn much-needed items.
Stocking our store shelves will be a challenge at first. We are pleased to report that the initial inventory is already on it’s way. Get involved there at home by collecting supplies for the store and shipping them to us.
