Take a right at the next round-a-bout onto Phillip Goldston Highway. Turn right onto the Western Highway at the Hattieville round-a-bout. Remain on the Western Highway for another 30 miles and continue straight through the Belmopan round-a-bout, over the new Roaring Creek bridge. Turn right and the camp is about 300 yards on the right. Click to download Directions and Maps.

What vaccines/tests or entry protocols are required? The camp and surrounding villages are more developed than other forested areas of Belize - so exposure to disease-carrying mosquitos is lessened. Please consult your primary care physician for recommendations of all other vaccinations.

Does the camp have first-aid kits? Yes, however we suggest that each teams bring their own small first-aid supplies in the event that we are out of a particular item.

Does the camp have a laundry? Yes, we have washers, dryers and detergent available for a small fee.

Can my team cook our own meals? Rental of the Camalote House gives you access to our simple but complete kitchen. Rental of the entire camp allows teams to use the larger main kitchen, also. Aside from these reservations, all meals must be purchased from our staff cook.

What is the local language? English is the official language of Belize - as this is the choice for the educational system. Spanish is also spoken throughout the country, along with several Mayan dialects and the local “creole” (Caribbean English).

What is the currency exchange rate? The conversion rate is set at $1 USD = $2 BZD. Most US paper money (no coins) is accepted, as well as most major credit cards. Currently, local vendors will not accept any torn or worn bills, or 1 USD bills.

Will my cell phone work in Belize? Many cell phones will work in Belize. However, international roaming charges are quite high. Contact your U.S. cellular provider to see if they have an international plan. Otherwise, leave your phone in “airplane mode” and use wifi hotspots to make calls over internet.

Does my reservation require a deposit? We are requiring a $250 USD non-refundable deposit for all American team reservations.

Do I need missionary travel insurance? All travelers to Belize are currently REQUIRED to purchase Belizean Travel Insurance. (See below). We also strongly advise each team/church to purchase short-term missionary travel insurance. (i.e. Seven Corners) It is fairly inexpensive and occasionally we have seen personal injury while in Belize. ** COVID UPDATE - Belize Now requires purchase of Belize Health Insurance prior to your arrival as a tourist. $18 USD per person, total. Visit https://www.belizetravelinsurance.com to begin the application process.
